If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.

This year, or this month, or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to practice ourselves the kind of behavior we expect from other people.

Don’t let Christians who rub you the wrong way tarnish your desire for God.
People are messy, fault filled creatures, but God is perfect. You’re going to run into Christians who you just don’t get along with. And what you need to do is genuinely let go of any bad feelings, accept peace from God and lovingly distance yourself if you just don’t mix. Some people don’t get along, and that’s okay. You don’t need to be everyone’s best friend. You treat them the way you want to be treated, you be Jesus to them. That doesn’t mean you have to be around them all the time. Keep your eyes fixed on God and you’ll develop the tools you need to make sure that your feelings for the people who represent God, don’t affect your desire to pursue him.
Now, remember, you will never know the fullness of Christ until you know the emptiness of everything else but Christ.
C.H. Spurgeon (via abideinhislove)
You understand sleep when you are awake, not while you are sleeping. You can see mistakes in arithmetic when your mind is working properly: while you are making them you cannot see them. You can understand the nature of drunkenness when you are sober, not when you are drunk. Good people know about both good and evil: bad people do not know about either.
